Inside Running was established in Geelong on October 2006 by Matt Gibbon and based its office in Highton Village, Geelong. In 2012 Mark McLean a CPA Accountant joined the practice as a partner. 2013 saw Inside Running expand and open a second office in Ocean Grove.

Through extensive experience gained from working with a wide range of businesses, both large and small, Inside Running has identified the relationship between Accountant and client can be lost in dealing with the day to day matters. A key strength of Inside Running is the ability to communicate with all types of clients at all levels of the business by maintaining regular contact and open feedback. This is the cornerstone in the development of the professional relationship between our clients and Inside Running.

Matt’s interest in accounting and business management began at an early age as his family have owned and managed several small businesses over a period of 30 years of an ever changing business landscape.

Matt commenced his career with KPMG and continued with established diverse Accounting firms in Melbourne over a 10 year period. During this time Matt gained extensive experience in the provision of private business services encompassing taxation planning, compliance and the development of successful business strategies.

Matt’s nature of being approachable and adaptable provides his clients with an avenue to discuss their business needs in a confidential and professional manner with realistic outcomes. Being very family orientated, Matt understands the fine balance that business and family often command.

“Awareness of changes to clients and their goals, both financial and personal is one that can be lost after the passing of time in the client-accountant relationship. We have to be aware that, just like ourselves, your needs change and evolve. Most of these hopefully are planned and managed, but not always. By remaining approachable and by listening to our clients, Inside Running can assist in preparing and implementing strategies that gain positive outcomes from change .”

Mark has over 20 years experience in accounting and taxation, beginning his career in a medium sized firm in Melbourne. This was followed by two years working in the UK and Europe whilst travelling extensively. Subsequent roles in firms based in Melbourne allowed Mark to become proficient in the area of self-managed superfunds, and he is now our in-house expert. Moving to the Geelong Region in 2008 to raise his family of three girls, Mark joined Inside Running as a partner in 2012.

Mark’s attention to detail is a core foundation of the firm. His ability to communicate to clients on all matters across all levels creates a relationship that quickly becomes a strong and valuable partnership, plus it provides the clients with a complete understanding of where they are at and what lies ahead.

Outside of the office Mark is busy with his house full of girls, is a keen sportsman, participating in surfing, cycling, basketball and windsurfing and is involved with the local community as a member  a number of boards in a voluntary role.
